Renowned social activist, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur Frank Gashumba has taken a significant step towards reconciliation by apologizing to the Buganda Kingdom and the Katikiro, Charles Peter Mayiga. The apology marks the end of a prolonged period of tension between Gashumba and the Kingdom’s leadership, during which unpleasantries and harsh criticisms were exchanged.

For quite some time, Frank Gashumba and Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga were at odds, with Gashumba publicly making scathing remarks about the Katikiro. Mayiga, in turn, often responded indirectly, which only served to further deepen their rift. The ongoing tension between these two influential figures had become a topic of concern among many in Uganda, particularly among supporters of the Buganda Kingdom.

In a surprising turn of events, Frank Gashumba visited Buganda’s Bulange in Mengo this morning, in what seemed like an earnest effort to make peace. During his meeting with Katikiro Mayiga and other Kingdom officials, Gashumba acknowledged the negative impact of his actions and sincerely apologized for his past conduct. He explained that notable individuals, including the late Ciprian Kizito Lwanga and former Masaka governor Jude Mbabaali, had influenced his decision to apologize and seek reconciliation.

Gashumba expressed regret for the inappropriate language he had previously used and conveyed gratitude to Katikiro Mayiga for his unwavering service in protecting the interests of the Buganda Kingdom. In response, Katikiro Mayiga showed grace, stating that he appreciated Gashumba’s acknowledgment of his mistakes and emphasizing that others should learn from this act of reconciliation.

This apology follows another recent reconciliation within the Kingdom, where Tamale Mirundi’s family sought forgiveness for past criticisms of Buganda. These events underline a growing movement towards unity and healing, reflecting the Kingdom’s focus on progress and mutual respect.
